Using the Iron-on-Transfer Technique

This creative technique is useful for colorful or detailed images. First what you want to do is print a mirror image of your picture on transfer paper so that the image won’t come out backwards. Once it’s printing you put the transfer paper face-down onto the t-shirt. Make sure you put it in the right spot because you only get one chance. Then, get an iron and make sure its set to the same kind of fabric as the shirt. Then you start to iron the shirt till the picture sticks on to it but don’t burn it — 30-60 seconds is good. Now you wait till it cools down. Lastly you peel the back off the paper slowly and see how it came out.
We used a photo by AS220 Youth alumni Alan Martinez to try out this technique.
