We’re thrilled to announce the premiere of Futureworlds visual album: Amerikkka Better Have My Money! Young people have worked for over a year, through a whole pandemic to bring you a stunning, immersive art experience. Read on for details.
Taking place in a 22nd-century history class, “Amerikkka Better Have My Money: The Visual Album” sheds light on our country’s racial injustices by highlighting parts of history that usually go untold. Young artists use film, fashion, dance, and music to reveal the realities of systemic oppression, the exploitation and monetization of Black and Brown bodies, and the erasure of Black communities. The artists conclude the journey with an expression of joy that honors each of their individual ancestries and a finale fashion show that centers womxn and femmes of color which features their custom up-cycled fashion.
The premiere of the film features a site-specific immersive mural display and fashion runway in The Haus of Glitter’s Liberation Garden, inviting viewers to tap into their femininity and strut among the eARThwork planted and painted by these brilliant young artists.
Come dripped out, dress your best for the fashion runway!! Bring a blanket or something to sit on.
